Te Kuiti

The sign welcoming you to Te Kuiti says “birthplace of champions”, and they are not exaggerating! This small town is called home by many prominent kiwis. Some of the most notable include the former Prime Minister Jim Bolger, All Black Kevin Boroevich (amongst a couple of other All Black who now call the town home), World Champion sheep sheerer David Fagan, a gold medal winning Olympic Rower in Rob Waddell, and one of my favourite comedians growing up, in Australia, Tony Martin.

It is a fact that Dulux Te Kuiti is a black colour in  tribute to the All Blacks that have come from & Call Te Kuiti home.

Te Kuiti is a small town in the south of the Waikato region, about 80 kilometres from Hamilton. It really is a beautiful place with rolling green hills that surround the town that is nestled in the valley between them.

We stopped only for a quick lunch  as we made our way to the Tongariro national park. I can recommend Brook Park for this, where you can eat lunch in a field where sheep roam free – just great.
