There is quite a fierce rivalry that exists between the New Zealand Capital, Wellington, and New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland. In fact, there is a bit of a rivalry between the bulk of New Zealand and Auckland!
As I am living in Auckland, I have become a bit of an advocate for the city. However, one fact (as it was told to me by a Wellingtonian friend of mine) has always stuck with me; Wellington has more eateries per head of population that anywhere else in the world. A big claim I know, but should you visit Wellington it is not to see why.
Coutenay Place is one of the streets in Wellington that is littered with bars & restaurants representing delicacies from every corner of the globe. From Sweet Mothers’ Kitchen which serves great Mexican inspired food best washed down with a beer, or Chow Where you will be treated to amazing Asian inspired delicacies. No matter where you end up, a great spot to finish the night is The Library, which is a wine bar set in a cozy space fitted out like an old library. Just perfect after a day exploring Wellington!!
