Gladstone Road is the home of the Dove-Myer Robinson Park, named after the longest serving Mayor of Auckland. However is more commonly known as the Parnell Rose Garden. Some of the plants in the garden have been bred by internationally celebrated rose breeders and each year in November, the park is host to the Parnell Festival of Roses, which showcases New Zealand craft stalls, art exhibitions, music, strolling performers and, of course, thousands of roses.
However, at anytime during the year the garden is a wonderful place to visit, to simply wander with a coffee, or sit and soak up the day.
Gladstone Road is also not far from the famous French Market in Parnell, which runs on Saturday & Sundays. It’s the perfect spot to get your fresh supplies for the weekend. There are coffee roasters, french patisseries, crepes, fresh baked breads, as well as fresh fruit and veg. A wonderful part of Auckland.
